Reviews Should have been more songs with english lyrics I was very disappointed almost everything was in a foreign language - would not have bought if I had listened to it first 2009-01-06 First Impressions This is the first time I have bought an Il Divo CD and I was a little disappointed, the tracks were a bit samey. Maybe it will grow on me though. However, I do love their versions of Hellelujah, Amazing Grace and Adagio. 2009-01-02 the promise : outstanding I have been a fan of Il Divo from the very beginning. Each new album i thought they could not get any better, well they did and they have. The Promise is outstanding I love it. Their renditions of Amazing Grace and Hallelujah are beautifully and sympathetically covered. I also love Adagio I was not sure that they could pull this one off but they certainly did and did it very well. Angelina is fun, a real toe tapper. La Promesa is just lovely and in my opinion really shows how the guys voices have matured and grown. Seb has gone from having a pleasent voice to an outstanding voice that can certainly hold its own with the other three, opera trained or not. In my opinion the guys have totally delivered with The Promise so thanks guys. 2008-12-10 Il Divo are back!!!!! I have found with all Il Divos CD's that first hearing I am always a little unsure, but having listened to The Promise over and over again, this is certainly a wonderful CD and one I have listened to late at night when I cannot sleep. It is beautiful, and I for one cannot wait for February when I will get to see the guys singing their new songs from The Promise live, it will be such a treat 2008-12-08 Not so much "sigh, thud" as "sigh, oh dear" I am a platinum member of their website. I have all their albums, dvds and have seen them live 5 times. I WAS almost obsessed - Siempre toned it down a bit but The Promise has all but killed it. Whoever did the mixing likes the sound of a loud, no - very loud baritone. Carlos all but drowns out the other 3 on nearly every track at the crescendos. David, Seb & Urs all have wonderful voices but you can't hear them!! I am seeing them in February, but I have to say I'm not looking forward to it as much as I was. A very formatted album - sorry guys, but not my cup of tea. 2008-12-03 |
