Product Description
Apple?s new iPod touch packs more features into a sleeker design and feels even better in your hand! The iPod touch has a revolutionary touch interface and has been designed to let you control everything using your fingertips. The iPod touch responds to motion using a built-in accelerometer, so you can immediately see the entire width of a web page, view a photo in full, or control a game using only your movements. You can browse over and download loads of games and applications in almost every category at the Apple Store on iTunes or right on your iPod, and rock while you run with the built-in Nike + iPod support. The iPod touch no longer plays just music; it also keeps a record of your workout performances, tracking your time, distance and calories burnt thanks to the sensor that you slip into your shoe. The new iPod touch?s body is stunningly thin and made of polished stainless steel for a more comfortable grip, and volume controls have been built into the left side to give you easy access to the most frequently used settings. Plus, the iPod touch is equipped with a built-in speaker that lets you hear music, dialogues and action without headphones, ideal for casual listening, and an astonishing battery life for up to 36 hours of non-stop music and 6 hours of video playback. A new Genius feature has also been integrated into the iPod touch, allowing you to create your very own multimedia library and music mixes. Music and videos on the iPod touch not only sound amazing; they look amazing, too.

Queen of iPods
I bit the bullet and bought the 16gb iPod touch which arrived last week. I am a bit of a gadget freak so it was unsurprising that I would eventually buy myself this new addition to the iPod family and am I thrilled? YES! I am. Now wondering what to do with the Blackberry. Since I spend time overseas the idea of having free email and internet access was a huge plus but then having pretty much all my music on tap and being able to access the Apple store whilst on the move pretty much clinched it for me. If there is one small almost insignificant gripe it would be that the 'Genius' facility tends to work best if your musical taste is less diverse than mine. When I pick a song, my Genius fails to compile a playlist because of a lack of similar tracks...aside from that, buy one, it's fab! 2009-01-03
great product shame about Apple's in-built obsolescence
What it can do is amazing (well if you have wireless broadband - its not for roaming!)
What it cant do though tells more about its parent company and they're lack of regard for customers. Like the fact that if you have a charging dock/ car-charger/ foreign adaptor or even they're own Apple Speaker(!!) from a previous Ipod, dont be fooled into thinking you'll be able to use any of these devices to charge the battery. No, they've quietly got rid of firewire 12v charging and moved to USB 5v charging only with this model.
And on that note they're products are designed to last 2 years and a day before dying and the need to visit an expensive Apple Service centre - let me see I've got through 3 ipods, an Imac and an Airport from these guys, and while yeah, you'll probably want to upgrade anyways in two years, in-built obsolescence is surely now part of their plan for world domination, its not like anything they build is user-sevicable!!

a great gadget
my old 2nd gen nano was begining to show it's age with shortening battery life and almost full memory, so i decided to replace it. of course i went straight to ipods, because i wouldn't choose anything else after the years of faithful service from my nano. i spoke to a friend about what one i should choose, and he had one of these, i tried it and i liked it, that is what made me make my decision.
well, what can i say, it's a fantastic product, made by apple, which means all the usual things, it only syncs from itunes, and it is quite expensive, however, it does come with the traditional apple selling points, it looks great, and the controls are very intuitive. aswell as this the cover flow is a cool feature that has been included. there is also browsing and google maps via a wi-fi connection.
now the device it's self. the device has a multi-touch display, which allows it to recognise more than one finger touching its screen. the "menu" button from the click wheel is now the small white square below the screen. the volume is now controlled by a switch on the side or via the screen by dragging a button across the bottom of the music screen, similar to how it was done on previous ipods, but without the wheel, play/pause, forward, and rewind are control on the music screen like volume. there is also a small speaker in the device, which, for a device of its size is good, aslong as the volume isn't to high the sound quality from the speaker is reasonable.
if i do have one complain it is that the screen becomes very dirty with finger prints etc very easily, but apple seem to have thought of this and have included a cleaning cloth. 2008-12-31
Thank you Amazon
I ordered this product on the 30th of December 2008 using the free delivery option and it arrived on the 31st at 09:30......Bloody Hell well done Amazon.
This is a Birthday present for my Daughter so can't review the product, but she really, really wants this and has been helping around the house and has been the most polite and lovely (although she mostly is anyway) for over a month.
So, well done Amazon and well done Apple. 2008-12-31
The most exciting, beautiful MP3 on the market
I got the 16GB Ipod Touch for Christmas and so far I am thoroughly satisfied with it. Firstly, it looks beautiful, is nice to hold and a pleasure to use.
The menu layout is very simple, you just tap what you want! The option to place shortcuts - maybe straight to albums for instance, would be even better. (It doesn't to my knowledge have this, but I might be wrong.) It pretty much does everything. You can watch TV shows, movies etc and the picture quality and screen clarity are pretty good. It can link up to your Nike+, providing playlists, statistics and feedback for your workouts; but only if you buy the separate attachment for your trainers. You can also display photos, read email, sync with your computer's calendar, contacts and more. You can also download infinite applications from the App Store straight to your Pod. These include games and musical instruments amongst other things - some are free, others aren't. Some are good...and others aren't!
The Safari internet browser is surprisingly useable, although it can be difficult to get a connection. The best thing about the wireless connection is the ability to download music straight to your Ipod. Wherever you have a WiFi connection you can add music (though disappointingly not video) to your collection. This is great if you're on the move and can't get to a computer.
It of course plays music, and displays the album artwork beautifully. Any complaints about sound quality can be remedied by purchasing a better quality pair of headphones such as Sennheiser or Bose for example. It also has an external speaker; the sound quality of this isn't brilliant but it serves a basic purpose. In order to store video, music and apps without worrying, I would recommend the 16GB version. This is plenty for me.
You will probably need a case or at the very least a screen protector, as it does pick up fingerprints and I'm guessing scratches, very easily. Like I said, there are a few issues with the wireless connection, and I have had some of the artwork icons disappearing on me, however for me there are barely any negatives to this great player. If you want no nonsense volume of storage I would go for the Ipod Classic, if you are concerned about size go for the Nano. If you want, to quote Apple - "the funnest Ipod ever", it has to be the Ipod Touch!! You won't regret it! 2008-12-31
