Reviews Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Well, after all the hype...what a disappointment! When the news was first released that Mick was going back to 'de blues' and forming a band, the excitement amongst us all was that we were going to hear some good music again and couldn't wait to get the album or see them live. Now, before I start, let me say that I havn't heard the album yet - only seen the DVD of the band in concert in Germany, filmed in October, I believe. Ok, the choice of songs were ok and I'm sure the musicians are all 'top notch' in their own categories - however... the whole thing just lacked guts! Maybe it was the sound mix - Rick Vito's guitar playing was superb, but the band just had no 'drivin' beat. When we think of the early Mac playing the blues - Peter Green's drivin' lead, Jeremy Spencer's rauchous , rough voice and pumping rhythm, performing some Elmore James classic - this DVD just did not have it! This live concert lacked that drive, and the keyboards do not make a substitute for that drivin' rhythm guitar. Sorry guys - get a new vocalist, add another guitar, turn up the bass, and find a new mixer! 2008-12-11 Welcome back! Welcome back to the blues Mick Fleetwood its been a long time coming but well worth the wait, This album "Blue Again!" Blue Again! (Plus Bonus Disc)is very evocative of the early blues of Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac and is a must for all fans of their early albums. Mick has lost none of his magic and with his current band brings the memories flooding back. Long may he continue and please lets have more of "Mick Fleetwood Blues Band" Brilliant!!!! 2008-11-06 Mick Fleetwood pays tribute to the early Mac sound If you are a fan of the early Fleetwood Mac and the sounds of Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwin, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood, you must purchase this great CD! Recorded live and sounding like just like that early Mac live blues vibe, the material is outstanding. Rick Vito does some great Peter Green solos and his singing is very evocative of Peter's vocal stylings. This CD should please all fans of British Blues. Again, it's a must own for fans of early Fleetwood Mac. 2008-10-15 |
