 Pavarotti - The Ultimate Collection
What a let down! I bought this for Nessum Dorma and found that the cupboard of his repertoire is actually pretty bare. Other than "Just one Cornetto" there aren't any big hits on this album. Surely they could have included the 1975 classic "everyone's a fruit and nut case"? More importantly, none of it is in english so i've no idea what he's on about.
That said, this guy can sing, proving,... |
 Viaggio Italiano Andrea Bocelli
Opera is in fashion, and the woods are full of pop vocalists who think they have the chops to sing arias. The best contender so far is Andrea Bocelli, who at least has a real voice, if a small one, and sometimes manages a really exciting tenor sound. Unfortunately, he is inconsistent in his tone and production, and, despite the fact that he's singing in his native language, he often sounds as though... |
![Andrea Bocelli - A Night In Tuscany [1997]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Y0Y5H01TL._SL75_.jpg) Andrea Bocelli - A Night In Tuscany [1997] Andrea Bocelli
Part concert, part documentary, part travelogue, this video hit duplicates the success of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli's albums and underscores his unique crossover appeal. Critical response to Bocelli has been confined to fusillades of scorn from classical and opera writers, but the bullet-proof superstar is better understood in the context of a mainland European tradition of pop-classical fusion.... |
 Funky Christmas James Brown
Recorded at the height of Mr. Superbad's reign, this high-octane, 17-song set is guaranteed to give Santa Claus a soul transfusion--and put a little extra kick into that mistletoe kiss. While JB spends a fair amount of time pouring his heart out on inspired renditions of favourites such as "Merry Christmas Baby" and "Please Come Home", he and his always-stellar band really shine on a spate of originals... |
![A Boyfriend for Christmas [2006] (REGION 1) (NTSC)](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51FG66KGHEL._SL75_.jpg) A Boyfriend for Christmas [2006] (REGION 1) (NTSC) Kelli Williams
I saw this film and TV and fell in love with it, it all based on a young girl who at the age of 12-13 ask's santa for a boyfriend for christmas because her friends have one, after helping a young lad with his sister go up to santa she leaves, 20 years later and her one christmas wish has still not come true and she nolonger believes in the sprite of christmas. when she see's santa again she tells him... |
 Silent Night Mahalia Jackson
Of all songs it is my favorite. It's "The good news" feel it! It's the Gospel "word". This album is a treasure. When I listen to "In The Upper Room", I remember hours passed to make play this song of enthusiasm. At the time, I understood nearly none of the words, but the rhythm, the sincerity in the voice gave me the true desire to dance, to shout, to sing, to play life instead of supporting it. "The... |
 Mario Lanza: The Ultimate Collection
A superb collection of some of Mario Lanza's finest recordings. Considering some go back to 1949 - 1958, the recordings to CD are excellent. You'll never walk alone, sung as it was originally intended by the great Mario Lanza. A perfect collection for new comers or fans looking for the best of Mario Lanza. A track for every occassion. |
![A Soulful Christmas [European Import]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41FkEpSN6yL._SL75_.jpg) A Soulful Christmas [European Import] Brian Culbertson
If you like punchy brass, big choirs and orchestras, then this is the disc for you. Great, full sound on most tracks, with some quieter, more restrained moments. Particular highlights Joy To The World (funky with big choir), This Christmas (punchy brass), and Some Children See Him (a quieter moment, with beautiful vocals by Brian's wife Michelle).
Highly recommended!! |
A Christmas Present From Motown - Volume 2 Various Artists
A Christmas Present From Motown Volume Two contains a further 18 festive offerings from the Sound Of Young America. Once again, selections include traditional carols, seasonal standards and newly penned yuletide numbers, mostly recorded during the 60s. Not surprisingly, there is yet another version of "White Christmas". This time Diana Ross & the Supremes provide a schmaltzy Disney-esque reading...... | |
